Wow, I haven't blogged in so long. It's been crazy and I'm just now catching my second wind.

It snowed last night, we woke up to another 6-8" on top of the few inches we already had. The kids are thrilled, I'm good with it as it means I can't travel and get to stay home relaxing with the children. I need to journal a bit about what we've been doing here so I can keep track of things for my records, and my sanity. We have a new daughter, Aimee, she is almost 7 and will be adopted (hopefully) by March 1st. We are all very happy about that, Aimee included. She is struggling a lot with missing her bio-mom and has many ups and downs every day. but we're working on it, and she's coming along. It'll take her a few months to feel comfortable, and hopefully not more than a year or so to feel bonded to us. She's a great little girl. I am looking forward to taking a 3 day seminar on attachment disorders this next week. Nancy Thomas is fantastic!

Let's see...
Hayden is still working on his Civil Air Patrol stuff, and doing quite well. He was told a few months ago that he is an inspiration of integrity and maturity for his fellow cadets, that made his Mama very proud. :o) He is enjoying his new birding books that he recieved for Christmas, and is looking forward to meeting with a college counselor in the coming weeks. His hope is to start off CLEPing some classes soon, and getting ahead of the game. He is very motivated!

Kori Joy is still fiddling, although she hasn't had any lessons in the past month. We are trying to get her schedule arranged for the new year. She is reading up on World War II. It seems like all the kids are into that era right now. She is working sporadically on her spanish lessons, some days more interested than others. Kori and Kristianna recieved some paper "quilling" kits for Christmas and love working on those together. Kori has also been making home made cards to send to friends and relatives. We are all (the big kids and I) working through a Basic Mathematics textbook together, specifically on the different uses of a calculator.

Kristianna is always in her room... but that's a good thing! She's been using her laptop to make various movies. The one she is working on right now is for our church, and the possible orphan ministry we are involved in. It's very, very good and I hope it gets used. She is also working on her spanish, and reading a ton of different books. I can't hardly get a book out of her hand... sounds familiar. ;o) She and Kori are watching their share of old movies, as well as their favorite show John and Kate Plus 8, and Good Eats.

Both Kristianna and Kori are taking a long break from Highland dancing. I'm hoping they get back into it, but I understand the need to switch gears for awhile.

Linnea is absolutely loving her piano lessons and loves that she has this "thing" that is all her own. :o) She is reading really well and reads for hours in her bed at night, unless I catch her still awake. Linnea and I are working through a Spectrum math book, but the concepts are very difficult for her, so we are taking these very slow and "naturally". We are working on a unit study, with all the little children, on Germany. They love reading about Germany's culture, we found a great show called Passport to Europe with Samantha Brown. So the little kids are following along nicely... working on writing letters to friends, reading lots to mom and alone, writing in their journals, playing games together, spending time outside, working puzzles, enjoying Christmas gifts, drawing and coloring, sledding, swimming, playing the Wii system, drinking gallons of hot cocoa, and working in math and reading workbooks (Trey loves math!). They are ever occupied, but I'm often having to tame the noise.

Together we're reading through Joshua, Little Pilgrim's Progress and Zellie Blake; Lowell, Massachusetts, 1834.

We still have our foster son, he was supposed to transition home by the 19th of December, but they wanted to transition him slower- which is stressful for me, but we love him to death. Nick has orders to Germany, but we won't know if they'll let us travel overseas until mid-February or early March. Apparently, because the children were all born with some sort of drug in their tiny bodies, that qualifies us as having 'medical conditions that may preclude traveling overseas'. Hmm. Last I checked the kids were all healthy and happy. We are okay with whatever the decision is. We love where we live now, and we'd love the rare opportunity to live in Europe.

I am thinking about going back to school. It's gone back and forth in my brain for a year or so now. I would really like to finish my degree out in Human Development and possibly master in child therapy. With Hayden starting up soon, I may join him. Still not certain what I'll end up deciding to do, I guess it all depends on whether our little guy is still here and whether or not I still have a right mind.
