Gardening and spring

I had a moment of contentedness yesterday when I remembered that we sold the farm because I wasn't getting anything done, and now I am having so much "down time" to play with the kids! Here we are in the very beginning of spring, we've done our pruning, fertilizing and indoor planting. I'm worried now because our mini-greenhouse plants our thriving and will need to be planted outside soon... before it's warm enough! Every year I've struggle so much with Trey wanting to garden, and me wanting to catch up on housework, outside work, animal work. Now I have the time to not only garden with him, but take him for the long bike rides he begs for. ~smile~

I still miss the privacy we had, and I definitely miss the goats and horses, but I really do not miss the extra work.

This year Trey and I have planned to have chamomile, mint and lemon balm in containers on the back deck. As well as carrots, onions, strawberries, tomatoes and peppers. Out front we are planting two large barrels with potatoes, and several flowering plants. Indoors we have garlic, and are trying our hands at starting a lemon and apple tree in pots.

Won't be an abundance of fresh food, but a nice snacking area for the kids. ~smile~ We still plan to visit the local "u-pick" for strawberries, green beans, apples and other fresh fruits for canning.

I don't know if I'm planting anything this year or not.
