This past week has been so nice, and relaxing. I needed that. Kris brought over the kids, and they were able to stay with us for 3 days. I'm really enjoying them, and it did not seem like I had 10 kids here!! Everyone played nicely together, and found things to occupy their time. We took everyone to the local military "resort" (very small lake, 10 min away). We rented 2 paddle boats, a row boat, and everyone took turns on Daddy's new jet ski. it was remarkably easy to keep track of everyone! I'm looking forward to lots of days like these. ~smile~
We took Linnea to buy a few clothing items, and she had such fun picking out a bathing suit. It was a joy to watch her... she was so bright and happy. I love it when she has days where she is more communicative and involved, not alone playing by herself oblivious to the rest of us. Today she is back to being a loner. I miss her.
Hayden had his 15th birthday on Thursday! He is such a blessing to our family! He chose home made cinnamon rolls for breakfast, spaghetti for dinner, and a lemon icebox cake for his dessert. Kristianna made his cake/ pies for him, and he said they were as good as the store bought ones he has tasted. ~grin~ Hayden was blessed with a few gifts from family members, but won't be getting any gifts from us until the big family birthday party we are having at the lake in August. ~grin~ Kris took him home yesterday for 3 days, and I already miss him. Trey is having a tough time, as Hayden is his no. 1 buddy... but he is getting lots of time in with Daddy. They had an hour long pillow fight this afternoon, it was hilarious- I wish my camera battery had not died!
Nick and I drove around our tiny town Saturday, just looking at the different areas around the lakes. I have to admit, I'm really starting to love this place. I can see us settling here after all... something Nick has been trying to tell me for the past year.
This evening I finished making Kristianna's national costume for her Highland dance competition this coming weekend. I am almost done with Kori's, just need to finish her overskirt. I had some extra material, so I made a little skirt out of pink plaid for Kyla, one out of Kori's orange plaid for Linnea and will make another blue plaid one for Sara. Not only are they cute, but it'll be easier to keep track of the little girls at the competition. ~smile~
I'm off to walk Toby, I need this walk. Kristianna needs to walk with me as she is having a rough evening, Toby needs this walk because he is as overweight as I am. LOL
I've been having headaches pretty regularly, but a nice cup of coffee and some chocolate seemed to help. I'm doing "The Lord's Table" Bible study with Kori, and we are both making some pretty neat changes in our eating habits and spiritual lives. I'm also reading "A Hunger for God" by John Piper, so far it's awesome. So I'm getting a lot of God time in- I'm pretty happy about that. I need Him. We tried a new church this morning, I'm starting to feel the Lord is telling me to shut up and sit down. Not to worry about the doctrinal differences, but to focus on worshiping the same Lord. It's been hard finding a church where I actually like the pastor... and the worship... This church seemed very "real", and they have a wonderful outreach, which is what I am looking for.
I miss Hayden. It feels like we went from 7 children to 2. The house is empty without one of my babies.
